DOC4000 relies on the existence of the Desktop folder to properly create and save reports. If this folder does not exist in the proper location, reports may not be created correctly. If, when you click the Generate Report icon, it times out without creating a report, make sure the Desktop folder exists in the following path:
32-bit systems only have this one:
C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\Desktop
64-bit systems display both of these:
C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\Desktop
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\config\systemprofile\Desktop
Troubleshooting
If you have problems with report generation, check the following:

Ensure Visio version meets the requirements specified in DOC4000 Server System Requirements and DOC4000 Client Requirements.

Install Adobe Reader on client machines that request PDF files from DOC4000.

If the folders do not exist, create the Desktop folder in those locations.

To ensure compatibility between Visio and DOC4000, open any Visio file (*.vsd), and ensure that the file opens and is displayed correctly. When Visio launches the first time, it may display several windows requesting initial display settings and licenses. After you make sure that Visio opens files correctly, close Visio.

Also make sure that the NETWORK SERVICE Windows account has full permission to the Desktop folders. You might need to modify COM security to explicitly set the permission for the NETWORK SERVICE Windows account.
To set the appropriate COM security permission:

In Windows Run, enter dcomcnfg.

Expand Component Services and Computers, and then right click My computer and click Properties.

Click the COM Security tab, and under Launch and Activation Permissions click Edit Default.

Add the NETWORK SERVICE account if needed, and then grant NETWORK SERVICE Local Launch and Local Activation permissions.
