CAESAR II Version
11.0 (2019)

Controls the formula CAESAR II uses for computing the longitudinal stress for sustained loads (SUS) for the B31.3 code. The 2010 Edition of B31.3 code introduced a specific formula for computing SL. This code formula was previously optional and referred to as B31.3 Code Case 178.

The software defaults to automatically computing sustained loads using this formula. You can change the B31.3 Use SL Formulation Para 320 (2010) configuration setting in the Configuration Editor > SIFs and Stresses to False if you do not want the software to use this formula, for example in the case of pre-2010 Edition jobs.

CAESAR II sets this configuration setting to True by default, which means the software overrides the directives for F/A and torsion and uses this formula to calculate sustained case stresses.
