  1. Click Structure > Structure > Frame > Creation.

    The Frame Creation dialog box displays.

  2. Define the insertion point for the frame.

  3. Define the plans, rows, and columns using Add and Remove.

  4. Click Save As.

  5. Enter the frame name, and specify the folder location.

  6. Click Save.

  7. Click OK, and then specify a point in the drawing.

    The frame displays.

    Frame for Taper Members

  8. Click the Shapes drop-down on the Model panel, and then click Tapered/Haunch Tapered Haunch.

  9. Click Wide Flange or Circular in Section Type.

  10. Select Tapered or Haunch.

  11. Select a Section Data Table.

  12. Select a Member Size.

    The software populates the dimensional properties.

  13. To edit the dimensional properties, select Member Size, and then click Custom.

  14. Check or clear the Calculate Weight check box.

    If you cleared the Calculate Weight check box, then type the Weight.

  15. Select a Material.

  16. Type an Angle.

  17. Select a Cardinal Point.

  18. Check or clear the Reflect check box.

  19. Select a Group and a Layer.

    The software automatically populates Layer when you select Group. You can overwrite this value as needed.

  20. Click the Details tab.

  21. If needed, edit the Long Description and Short Description. For more information, see Tapered/Haunch.

  22. If required, type a Part Number and a Tag.

  23. Select Frame Columns from the Place By list.

  24. Click Insert.

  25. Highlight the frame, and then press ENTER.

    The software places columns on all the column line locations in the frame.

  • You can highlight a group of columns after insertion and change the angle to the whole group.

  • Select a column to apply different angles to tapered members for each side of the model. The software inserts a column for each column line you select.
