Mouse Icon CADWorx Structure Editor View tab: Display > Properties > Groups ellipsis

Specifies layers assigned to a group classification for a project.

You lose Bill of Material functionality when you delete a group, then open a drawing that contains the deleted group.

Import

Imports layers from a .cwxs file. When you make changes to the layer color in the .cwxs file, you must always use the number designation for the color of the layer rather than the word.

To create a layer in the .cwxs file, use the following syntax definition:

Index,Group Description[,layername,layercolor,layerlinetype,layerlineweight].

Example: 01,Member,Member,7,Continuous

For more information, see Import layer and group data.

Export

Exports groups and layers from the Group Manager. When you make changes to the color in the .cwxs file, you must always use the number designation for the color of the layer rather than the word.

Group

Specifies the group name and allows for group classification of layers. The group name assigns the layer to a specific group, for example: Column New Primary, Beam New Tertiary, or Elevation. There are no restrictions on how many groups you can have or what you can name them.

Default Layer

Assigns a layer from the list to the group. You can click the list to change the layer. Alternatively, click the ellipsis Ellipsis Spec Editor to open the Layer Manager, and then make changes to the layers.

New Group

Adds a new group. You must also select a Default Layer for the new group.
