After you create a qualification pathway, you must add components to the pathway before it can be assigned to users. These components create a tree-like structure for the qualification pathway and are referred to as nodes within the UI. You can build out this tree-like structure immediately after creating a qualification pathway or after you've created several pathways.

  1. Choose one of the following:

    1. If you just created a pathway and want to start adding components to it right away, proceed to step 2.

    2. If you've previously created a few different pathways, go to Qualification pathways Qualification pathways icon and select Edit beside the pathway you want to add nodes to.

  2. Hover over the pathway name and click Plus icon.

  3. Choose one of the following options:

    1. Reusable competency: Pull in an active competency you've already created. This type of competency is also known as a reusable competency. After a reusable competency is pulled into a pathway, it appears with a filled-in star icon Single-use competency icon.

    2. Single-use competency: Create a new competency that's specific to only this qualification pathway. This type of competency is also known as a single-use competency. After you create a single-use competency, it appears with an empty star icon Reusable competency icon.

    3. Learning module: This is the only mandatory component of a competency. Additional nodes cannot be added to a learning module because it is the most granular component of your tree-like structure. All competencies must contain at least one learning module. Learning modules can be made up of AcceleratorKMS content and/or learning statements. Learning statements are similar to statements in AcceleratorKMS. Learning statements can include text, links to internal or external resources, images, embedded videos and iFrames. You can copy learning statements and include more than one learning statement in a single learning module. After you pull in a learning module into your qualification pathway, the learning module appears with a cube icon Learning module icon.

    4. Grouping: Use groupings to organize your nodes. If you choose to create a grouping, keep in mind that you can not add proficiency levels to a grouping. If you want to make use of proficiency levels, they must be added first and then you can add groupings to those levels. Groupings can only contain more groupings and learning modules. After you create a grouping, it appears with a folder icon Grouping icon.

    5. Proficiency level: Use proficiency levels to enable users to build upon their knowledge base and expertise, with the most basic level appearing first. Proficiency levels can contain groupings and learning modules. After you create a proficiency level, it appears with a layered square icon Proficiency level icon.

  4. Enter a name and a description for the component you're adding.

  5. If you're adding a learning module, choose one of the following options:

    1. From the Content field, navigate to an AcceleratorKMS document, and then enter a Name and Description.

    2. Add a Learning statement, give it a title, and then enter text, add a table, an internal or external link, an attachment, or embedded video or iFrame.

    3. Copy an existing Learning statement.

  6. If you want to make learners perform everything within this component in sequential order, check the Restrict sequence check box. Be aware that the Restrict sequence feature applies to the children of a component, not the component's grandchildren.

  7. If you want to give users a certain amount of time to complete the component, perform the following substeps:

    1. From the Duration time drop-down list, choose the time period for how long you want to give users to complete the component. Then, enter the number of days, weeks, months, or years associated with that time period.

    2. From the Duration time warning drop-down list, choose the time period for notifying users that the component is coming due. Then, enter the number of days, weeks, months, or years associated with that time period.

  8. Hover over the pathway name to add more parallel components or hover over a component to add smaller branches and then click Plus icon.

  9. Repeat steps 3 through 7 to continue to expand the pathway.
