Think of competency types as way of categorizing information. Maybe you have reference information and procedures that fall under Administration, Health and Safety, Operations, Maintenance, and so on. Those categories then become your competency types in AcceleratorLXP.

We recommend that you only allow certain users to add and edit competency types in AcceleratorLXP. By locking down competency types, you reduce the risk of that list growing uncontrollably and ultimately simplify the process of creating qualification pathways. Having too many competency types can cause confusion and frustration when building out qualification pathways. Administrators might struggle to figure out which competency type certain competencies fall under.

Competency types are mandatory and must be created before you can create single-use or reusable competencies.

  1. Complete a comprehensive analysis of your current training plan and start to build out a short list of 10 to 15 competency types.

  2. From the left navigation bar, go to Competency types Competency types icon and then click Create.

  3. Enter a name and description for the competency type. Remember to use the naming conventions you want to follow.

  4. Click Save.
