Tasks are used to manage the life cycle of content through the use of workflows.
Before you begin
-
The content, for which the task is being created, must be open.
-
Requires a user account with a role that includes the "Manage Personal tasks" or "Manage all tasks" role operations.
About this task
If you are working through content and notice that it should be modified in some way, you should create a task so that your request can be reviewed and the appropriate action taken. Changes might include items like requesting that a new step be added, updating the content information, or even requesting that the content be archived and replaced with new content - the possibilities are endless.
When you create a task, a workflow starts. After someone is assigned to the task, they complete the required work for the assigned workflow step and then transition the task to the next step in the workflow. The sequence of completing work and transitioning the task continues until the last step in the workflow is reached. At this point the task is transitioned to complete.
Procedure
-
In the Tasks section of the content, click Create a new task.

The task displays in the Active Tasks section on the Content page.
If you assigned the task to a specific user, the task appears on the assignee's Tasks page and an auto-generated email is sent to them with the pertinent details. Otherwise, the task displays in the Unassigned section of the Tasks page for users with the appropriate permissions to complete it. Users can then assign the task to themselves.
