Decouple an asset document from the document template when you require content changes that no longer relate to the document template. The asset document becomes a standalone document and is no longer impacted by the document template.

A document template must already be generated from the document template.
About this task
If you have an asset that requires an asset document that is somewhat different from other asset documents of the same type, you can decouple the existing asset document from the template. After it is decoupled, you can modify the asset document so that it is more specific to the asset. Changes made to the document template no longer affect the decoupled document, but changes to the statements are still affected.
Procedure

View the asset profile for the asset that requires the decoupled document.

Click the desired asset document within the profile.

Click Actions > Decouple from template.
A confirmation window opens.

Click OK.
Results
The document is decoupled from template and is now available for editing.
Edit a decoupled document similar to how a traditional document is edited; there are no options for using attributes. Attributes are used in templates only.
Recouple -- You can also recouple the document to its original document template.
However, in doing so, the asset-specific document loses all edits made while decoupled
and reverts to the sections, statements, and settings from the document template.
