Group similar assets into asset types so that you can use templates to generate similar content for each of them.
Before you begin

You have a user account with a role that includes the "Add or edit asset type" role operation.
About this task
Creating asset types allows you to group similar assets into one type for the purpose of using document templates to generate individual asset documents for each asset. When creating asset types, take some time and plan the asset types carefully. Consider how many similar assets fall into each group and whether they are really all that similar.
Procedure

On the menu, navigate to Manage and click Asset types.
The Asset Type page opens.

Click Create asset type.
The New Asset Type window opens.

Complete the fields.
Asset type fields

Description
Name
Descriptive name for the asset type
Description
Description of the asset type, e.g., Pumps-Diesel and Pumps-Electric
Classes
List of classes from the asset management system
You can assign an asset class to only one asset type at a time. If an asset class is already assigned, it does not appear in the list of possible asset classes.
Classes do not appear if AcceleratorKMS is not integrated with an asset management system.

Click Save.
Results
The Asset Type summary page opens with the selected name, description, and class(es) visible in the Basic information section.
What to do next
To add properties and attributes to the asset type, you must edit the asset type.
