Before you begin

  • Ensure the database server meets the minimum hardware and software requirements.

  • For high availability (HA) installations, database servers must have DNS entries.

About this task

The database server is the repository where all data is stored, for example, user information, statements, attachments, and templates.

Procedure

  1. If you are installing a basic deployment, then install SQL Server® using the following specifications:

    1. Select New Installation.

      • Features: Select Database Engine Services > Full-Text and Semantic Extractions for Search

      • Instance Configuration: Select Default Instance

      • Server Configuration: Select SQL Server® Agent and SQL Server® Database Engine accounts - Network Service

      • Database Engine Configuration: Select Authentication Mode - Mixed Mode

  2. If you are installing a high availability deployment, then install SQL Server® using the following specifications:

    1. Select New SQL Server® failover cluster installation on the first database server.

    2. Select Add node to an SQL Server® failover cluster on subsequent servers.

      • Features: Select Database Engine Services > Full-Text and Semantic Extractions for Search

      • Instance Configuration: Select Default Instance

      • Server Configuration: Select SQL Server® Agent and SQL Server® Database Engine accounts - Network Service

      • Database Engine Configuration: Select Authentication Mode - Mixed Mode

    3. Repeat these steps for every database server being installed.

Results

The database server is ready for use.
